- That Section 4 (subsection 3) be amended to read 3(a), that "In addition to the persons elected or appointed under subsection (2) the Bishop Ordinary to the Canadian Armed Forces shall appoint two clergymen licensed by him and two lay persons from the Armed Forces to represent the chaplains, military personnel and their dependents." CARRIED unanimously in both Houses.
- That Section 4 (subsection 3) be amended to read 3(b), that "In addition to the persons elected or appointed under subsection (2), there shall be fifteen young people between the ages of 18 and 25 appointed to the membership of the Synod by the National Executive Council at its last regular meeting prior to a session of General Synod, from nominations submitted by the Diocesan Bishops of which 3 shall be from the Province of Canada, 6 from the Province of Ontario, 3 from the Province of Rupert's Land, and 3 from the Province of British Columbia."

- (1) Change the number "15" to "24". The amendment was lost.
- (2) After the words, "from nominations submitted by the Diocesan Bishops," delete the balance, and substitute as follows:
- "after consultation with their young people, and with due consideration being given to adequate representation from the differing regional, cultural, occupational and socio-economic backgrounds of the young people in our Church." CARRIED in both Houses.

- The whole of Section 4, subsection (3)(b) CARRIED unanimously in the Upper House and by a two-thirds majority in the Lower House.
