- (1) To repeal Regulations R.71 and R.72 (Handbook, p.93), and to substitute the following:
- R71. RATES AND BASIS OF ASSESSMENT
- (1) Bishops and Clergy
- - Personal - 3% of salary
- - Salary Source - 10% of salary. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (2) Non-parochial clergy licensed on "on leave"
- - 3% Personal and 10% Salary Source. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (3) Chaplains serving beyond the Home areas
- - 3% Personal assessment on service pay only.
- (4) Chaplains serving in Canada
- - 3% and 10% Salary Source assessment on service pay only. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (5) D.V.A. or other Government or Institutional Chaplains
- - 3% Personal and 10% Salary Source assessment on full salary. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (6) Minimum Salary Basis Assessment
- - $1500.00 per annum
- (2) R72. PENSIONS - BISHOPS AND CLERGY
- The pensions payable under section 16 of the Canon shall be as follows:
- (1) Bishops:
- (a) To be computed at $30.00 for each year of pensionable credit since ordination or entry with permissive age of retirement 70 years, and with a limit of 40 count years. To this shall be added $30.00 for each year of pensionable service as a Bishop, without limit. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (b) The minimum pension shall be $1600.00 and the maximum $1920.00. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (2) Clergy:
- (a) To be computed at $30.00 for each year of pensionable credit since ordination or entry, with permissive age of retirement 70 years with a limit of 40 count years, giving a maximum service pension of $1200.00. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (b) The minimum pension payable to clergyman
- (i) On grounds of disability after at least ten years' service, or
- (ii) On attainment of age 70, after at least fifteen years' service, shall be $720.00. CARRIED in both Houses.
- (c) If the period of good standing in the Fund is less than stated above, the Board on the advice of the Actuary shall determine the benefit.
- (3) R73. MORTUARY BENEFITS
- The mortuary benefit payable under Section 17 shall be as follows:
- (a) Bishop or clergy in active service - $400.00.
- (b) Bishop or clergy on pension - $200.00.
- (c) Provided, however, that the Mortuary Benefit in respect of a bishop or clergyman, who shall have died within two hundred days of the date upon which his pension becomes effective, shall be based upon the Mortuary Benefit provided in the case of death while in active service, less a graduated reduction at the rate of one dollar per day up to 200 days.
- (4) R74. PENSIONS - WIDOWS
- The annual pension payable to widows, under Section 18, shall be as follows:
- (a) Widow of a bishop - $960.00 per annum.
- (b) Widow of a clergyman - $720.00 per annum.
- (c) In cases where the wife of a bishop or clergyman was more than ten years younger than her husband and also was married to him for less than ten years, her pension shall be subject to reduction, based on Table set forth in Appendix A.
- (d) In cases where the clergyman was ordained at age 55 or over, the widow's pension shall be determined by the Actuary. CARRIED in both Houses.
