- Notes
- In 1985 John Howe, retired secretary general of the Anglican Consultative Council, published a "study of developments in the Anglican Communion, particularly from 1958 on, but including an outline of the earlier history of Anglicanism." The book was "Highways and Hedges : Anglicanism and the Universal Church". In 1990 this book was "expanded by addition of a 77-page final chapter. `Continuing the Story' was prepared by Colin Craston, chairman of the Anglican Consultative Council. This chapter brings the account of developments in the communion right up to the preparations for the most recent meeting of the council ACC-8, held in Wales this summer. There is a good evaluation of Lambeth 88 and a helpful summary of the continuing discussion of authority, unity and diversity in the communion. Updates on ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, and on the discussions of mission and evangelism, complete the chapter".
