- Notes
- "On February 11 of 1988, as part of his background material to help the Anglican bishops of Canada prepare for Lambeth '88, Bishop John Baycroft presented the following statement to the House of Bishops. `For me, the movement that will transform our ways of thinking about God, the church and each other, and renew our structures, including the instruments of authority, is what we call, for the lack of a better name, the feminist movement. I look to a third-generation feminism to renew the church, but it cannot complete its work in this century'. Sparked by that statement, the Women's Unit of the Anglican Church of Canada asked General Synod Communications to organize and videotape a panel and audience discussion with Bishop Baycroft on the church and the women's movement. Here are edited excerpts from the tape."
- Speakers/panelists include: John Baycroft, Sister Anita, Karen Barrett, Norma Farquharson, Jan Handy, Joy Kennedy, Trudy Lebans, Diane Marshall, Alice Medcof, Cyril Powles, Marjorie Powles, Edith Shore and Sister Thelma Anne.
- The panel discussion was taped by Anglican Video and released in 1989 (with a study kit and leader's guide) under the title "Christian and Feminist".
