- "The Central Committee of the World Council of Churches under the Chairmanship of the Bishop of Chichester met in Toronto during the week of July 9th, 1950. The Central Committee is composed of some ninety members from all parts of the world. Rev. Dr. R.A. Hiltz of our Church and Rev. Dr. Gordon A. Sisco of the United Church are the two Canadian Church representatives, while Rev. Dr. W.J. Gallagher of the Canadian Council of Churches represents that body. Of particular interest to the Council for Social Service were certain actions taken regarding International Affairs. We believe the clergy should know of these at once. Hence this mimeographed Bulletin. The Statement on "The Korean Situation and World Order" is sent to you with particular intent. .... While the accredited delegates to the World Council of Churches desire justice and peace as sincerely as anyone in the world, and while they look for an effective international inspection and control of armaments and the ultimate banning of the instruments of war, they had to make known their opposition to the "Stockholm Appeal" which to say the least is unrealistic and to say more is probably part of Communist propaganda". -- Foreword.
