- Notes
- A proposal to extend and enlarge the present Anglican Cathedral of St. Jude's in Iqaluit has been approved. The cathedral, in the shape of an igloo, currently seats 250 but the proposed new building would hold 650. "The Executive approved the recommendations of the Cathedral Building Committee's architectural design report (Snowdrift) and recommended that the building committee and diocese move on in the fundraising/building process." Includes photo of proposed new design. The Bishop's Message on pp. 2-3 also noted that the cathedral had had "meetings and consultations with FSC Architects & Engineers and they came up with a very impressive design that we felt was most in keeping to our original plans to express the uniqueness of our Arctic identity. This expansion project will cost our diocese about 7 million dollars to complete" (p. 3).
