- Notes
- "This Bulletin really began in British Columbia. The New Westminster Diocesan Council for Social Service initiated a campaign against the excessive commercialization of cemetery operations. In the belief that cemeteries ought to be operated as a public service and not for profit, a resolution was introduced at the 1955 session of General Synod requesting the Council for Social Service to examine the methods of cemetery operations in Canada." "During the year, Miss Nora Lea solicited the assistance of every Diocesan Bishop in compiling the summary of principles recommended to their respective Dioceses which is to be found in the second section of this Bulletin. In some cases these suggestions and directives were contained in pastoral letters. In a few Diocesan pamphlets on Christian burial have been published". -- Intro.
