- For one week in May (14-20) 2000, Anglican and Roman Catholic bishops from 13 regions of the world convened in Toronto (Queen of the Apostles Conference Centre, Mississauga Ontario). The meeting was convened by Cardinal Edward Cassidy, President of the Vatican's Council for Promoting Christian Unity, and Dr. George Carey, Archbishop of Canterbury. The meeting reviewed 35 years of ecumenical dialogue and cooperation and produced a statement "Communion in Mission" (text on pp. 15-16). While in Toronto the bishops attended an ecumenical service at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Toronto. The meeting also produced an "Action Plan to Implement `Communion in Mission' (text on p. 17).
