That from January 1, 1969 the minimum stipend of missionary bishops be increased from $7,200 to $8,000 and that the General Treasurer be asked to communicate with the missionary bishops to determine what amount will be required, if any, from the Augmentation Fund to permit the payment of this new stipend level.
That this NEC concurs with the above resolution. CARRIED
"Realizing the urgent needs of the Church throughout the world indicated in the statement on Mutual Responsibility and Interdependence in the Body of Christ, presented at the recent Anglican Congress, and desiring to see the Canadian Church make a worthy response without delay, the Members of this House of Bishops pledge themselves to contribute 5% (five per cent) of their salaries for 1964, as an initial donation." (This amount to be additional to their present Church contributions). CARRIED unanimously
The Archbishop of Algoma presented the Report of the Committee appointed by the Primate to consider the Stipends of Missionary Bishops. (The Archbishop of Algoma; the Bishops of Brandon, Niagara, Athabasca and Nova Scotia.)
That the Committee appointed by the Primate to consider and review the stipends and travelling allowance of missionary bishops move:--"The amount set by the Board of Finance, namely $6,000 a year plus travelling allowance of 8c a mile, is, at present, satisfactory." CARRIED.
