"The 1991 census shows that for the first time ever there are four million Anglicans in Australia. This is an increase of nearly 300,000 since the 1986 census. Anglicans now constitute 23.9 % of the Australian population. According to the census 74 % of Australians identified themselves with some Christian religious group.
