The Very Rev. Bruce Stavert explained that the Long Range Planning Committee had just met. Other members of the Committee prepared to answer questions were the Ven. Gordon Hendra, the Rt. Rev. Leslie Peterson and the Rev. William Lowe.

That this National Executive Council welcome the publication of "Fragmented Gods: The Poverty and Potential of Religion in Canada", by Dr. Reginald Bibby, and commend it to the dioceses and parishes of The Anglican Church of Canada as a resource document in planning for mission and ministry in the future. That this General Synod approve as a high priority for the next three years, the development of our Church as an inclusive multicultural community, and that the National Executive Council be requested to commission a sociological study of the challenge to our Church of being part of a multicultural nation and world. That this House of Bishops, sharing with the people of the church our experience at the Lambeth Conference of 1988, in which we lived in, and participated in, a multicultural community, propose the following motion to General Synod:
`That this General Synod approves as a high priority for the next three years the development of our church as an inclusive multicultural community,
and
That National Executive Council be requested to commission a sociological study of the challenge to our church of being part of a multicultural communion, nation and world.
The purpose of such a study is to develop a strategy for evangelism for welcoming people of different cultures, and for developing appropriate forms of ministry.' CARRIED
