"The following pages contain what I sincerely hope is a fair account of the Anglican Congress of 1963. In addition to the sermons and formal addresses, reproduced in as accurate and definitive a form as time and circumstances permit. I have included both the group 'findings' as officially reported to the full Congress and a wide selection of informal speeches and comments made in the plenary sessions or sent in from the groups. I have also attempted a brief preliminary interpretation of the Congress as I saw it and felt its impact. It was the express wish of the Editorial Committee that the record of the Toronto Congress should include these elements of personal reporting and commentary and I have tried to carry out my assignment without worrying unduly about the criticisms that such an impressionistic account must necessarily invite". -- Preface, p. xv.

"In this first volume in an important new series, leaders from around the Anglican Communion ... reflect on the ten main themes of the 2008 Lambeth Conference .... this volume also features study questions following each essay to help readers go deeper into issues vitally relevant to us all". -- back cover.
"The writers of these Lambeth Essays were invited to extend the work of the Lambeth Conference 2008: to take the themes of the Conference into every corner of the Anglican Communion and to make the themes accessible for grassroots conversation and reflection. So, we have theological reflections from a few of the Anglican scholars and leaders who attended the 2008 conference. .... The writers come from across the landscape of Anglicanism and from a wide spectrum of theological perspectives. We sought in our writers a cross-section and a culturally diverse swath of our Communion -- for we are many voices with many viewpoints. .... The study questions at the end of the book will help all who read this book to go deeper and to live with the themes of Lambeth 2008. The themes of Lambeth 2008 are our themes, and this book brings them to us". -- Editor's Preface.

The TEAM conference (Towards Effective Anglican Mission) held 7-14 March 2007 in Boksburg, South Africa, brought about 350 delegates and speakers from around the Anglican Communion to discuss comprehensive approaches to aid and development.
The Rev. Grant LeMarquand is Lecturer in Theology at St. Paul's United Theological College, Limuru, Kenya.
He reflects that in the west there is often a battle between people who are interested in evangelism and people who are interested in social action. In the Kenyan church there is not nearly as big a distinction.
The Good Samaritan Luke 10:25-37 : A sermon preached by Archbishop Desmond Tutu at the Primates Eucharist, at St. Martin in the Fields, London, on March 13, 1995
Archbishop Tutu points out in his sermon that Christ "does not give a straightforward answer to the question 'who is my neighbour ?' ... It is as if Jesus wanted among other things to point out that life is a bit more complex; it has too many ambivalences and ambiguities for it always to be possible to provide a straightforward and often simplistic answer."
"In his reflections during the last session of Council of General Synod (CoGS) for the past triennium, the primate of the Anglican Church of Canada expressed frustration that Anglicans have not exhibited the same degree of passion for other social justice issues as they have for debates about same-sex marriage. 'I long for a time in our church when there is as much attention and conviction and passion and voice and action from the rooftops about sexual exploitation, about gender-based violence, human trafficking for the sex trade, missing and murdered Indigenous women, pornography, religiously-based violence around the world, our violence against creation itself, and the greed and the reckless consumption that drives it', said Archbishop Hiltz". "Hiltz spoke to CoGS at length about his experience at the January [2016] meeting of the primates of the Anglican Communion, and the status of relations within the global Anglican Communion following their decision to censure The Episcopal Church (TEC) for its 2015 decision to perform same-sex marriages. .... He noted that despite this call from the primates, TEC has indicated that it will send representatives to the upcoming Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, in April [2016], and Hiltz said he expects they will participate as 'full members'. The provinces of Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria, among others, have announced that their bishops will boycott the meeting because of the American attendees". "Hiltz said that the Canadian church will be represented at the ACC by Bishop Jane Alexander of the diocese of Edmonton, Suzanne Lawson and Archdeacon Michael Thompson, the church's general secretary, who will be standing in for Archdeacon Harry Huskins, who is unable to attend for health reasons".
