Conservative Anglicans who met in Toronto 16-18 June , were urged to join two new groups, one of them working towards becoming the official replacement for the Anglican Church of Canada in case that it may be suspended from the Anglican Communion.

On October 13, 2007 the Diocese of Ottawa voted 177 to 97 to approve a motion requesting its bishop to allow clergy "Whose conscience permits, to bless duly solemnized and registered civil marriages between same-sex couples" and to authorize rites for such blessings. Bishop Chapman has not given his approval to the motion.
