"The Diocese of Masasi is the implementing partner of PWRDF's All Mothers and Children Count (AMCC) program in Tanzania. Through AMCC, Tanzii has learned how to avoid unplanned pregnancy, and teaches others about SRHR [Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights] so they can have a future full of opportunity. His involvement is helping AMCC reduce the number of adolescents getting pregnant and dropping our of school -- a major challenge in Tanzania. It's one of many ways that the AMCC program us working with youth in rural areas of Burundi, Mozambique, Rwanda and Tanzania, where cultural norms often limit the ability of young people to access health care, especially girls".
"In 2009, on the occasion of the PWRDF's 50th anniversary, an African Partner Roundtable was held in Nairobi, Kenya with the Primate [Fred Hiltz], members of the Board and volunteers, and representatives from our African partners at the time. Here follows an excerpt from the Primate's closing address: .... 'Partnership is about sharing in the gospel and needs commitment. It is also about good work inspired by God. Essentially, partnership is God's work, we are just agents. I take home with me the wonderful images I have seen here, of all the happy partners and the realized achievements'." "Working with some of the most marginalized people on the continent, PWRDF partners in Africa integrate gender, human rights, peace building, and HIV and AIDS work into their poverty reduction programs. All health programs implemented by partners have a strong HIV and AIDS component. The focus of partners' work is prevention, education and fighting stigma; care through home-based care services or hospices; and support of people affected and infected by AIDS such as orphans, low-income families, and AIDS patients". PWRDF is currently working with partners in Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Sudan and Tanzania.
"PWRDF supports partners in seven African countries who work to reduce poverty and meet basic needs by improving access to potable water and sanitation, food and health care, including prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS. ... In Hamburg, South Africa, the Keiskamma Trust focuses primarily on health care, with an emphasis on education, prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS and TB. ... Through the Keiskamma Health Program, health workers in 33 villages have been trained to educate people living with AIDS about treatment and prevention of mother to child transmission of disease. In the Keiskamma Art Project, HIV-positive women embroider pillows, bags, and other art pieces, including altarpieces, for sale in a Hamburg shop ... There is also an organic garden program, which helps people with HIV and AIDS improve their diet by growing fruit and vegetables".
