Notes
The Meeting concluded with prayer by the Primate and with the Grace said in unison.
That this National Executive Council, having learned of the resignation of the Rt. Rev. R.J. Pierce as Chairman of the Inter-Church Relations Committee and of his impending retirement, places on record our grateful appreciation of his competent and faithful leadership during his years in this position. He has contributed to the Committee, and to the National Church generally, a responsible approach to the whole area of Christian Unity, combining a sensitivity to other Christian traditions with a worthy recognition of our distinctively Anglican attitudes and values.
We extend our best wishes to Bishop and Mrs. Pierce as he moves to a well-earned retirement. CARRIED Unanimously
Bishop Hambidge presented the interim report on the response to the World Council of Churches Report, "One Baptism, One Eucharist and a Mutually Recognized Ministry". (See Appendix B.)
Following discussion, it was agreed that the Bishops should share their thinking, through correspondence, with Bishop Hambidge, and that Bishop Hambidge should join with Bishop Steer and Bishop Pierce in editing the report.
It was agreed that the edited report should be brought forward at the Fall meeting of the House.
