- "To many people in the world, the Aborigines are the hidden people of Australia. It was therefore a rare privilege for a small group of us from five different countries to spend three weeks visiting Australia and listening to Aboriginal people as they told us of their dreams, their hopes, their suffering and their struggle. We were sent by the World Council of Churches at the invitation of the Australian Council of Churches. Our mission was a direct outcome of the Conference on World Mission and Evangelism held in Melbourne in 1980 on the theme `Your Kingdom Come'. There it was urged that in seeking to discern signs of that Kingdom in our world today, Christians should pay special attention to the voices of the poor, the oppressed, and the dispossessed of the earth. One result was the ACC's decision to request the WCC to send a delegation to Australia to express solidarity with the Aboriginal people, to consult with the Australian churches about their own response to racism and to enable the world Christian community, through informed prayer and effective action, to support the Aborigines in their struggle for justice". -- Intro., p. 5.
