Dr. Millman announced that following his retirement at the end of Synod, Mrs. Marion Beyea will take over as full-time Archivist.
The Primate expressed his deep appreciation to Dr. and Mrs. Millman for all the years of had work they have devoted to the Archives of the Anglican Church of Canada. Synod expressed its gratitude by a standing ovation.
The Chairman of the Committee appointed by the Primate, the Rt. Rev. G.B. Snell, reported that a good discussion had resulted from this Committee's meeting with Dr. F.A. Peake and Dr. T.R. Millman, who had presented their reasons why they felt a full-time Archivist-Historian was needed. The Committee felt that the NEC should be informed tha the Church is under a great debt to Dr. Millman for the amazing amount of work he has done during the past ten years. He has the work well organized and has collected a great deal of material. The Committee recommends the appointment of a full-time Archivist; that the present physical facilities at Church House should suffice for anywhere between five to ten years, and that it would appear the total amount required for 1967 should be in the neighbourhood of $20,000 rather than the $17,000 presently requested.
During the ensuing discussion, it was noted that the resolution passed at General Synod had stated, "That the proposal of the Archives Committee dealing with the appointment of a full-time Archivist-Historian be referred to the National Executive Council for consideration, and report to the next General Synod in 1967." In view of the possibility that Dr. Millman may be on sabbatical leave in 1966-1967, the question of whether it would be possible to secure a part-time Archivist was raised. A retired man with past experience in this field might be secured until General Synod meets and reaches a decision.

"The annual general meeting of the Canadian Church Historical Society was held in the Cody Library at Wycliffe College, Toronto, on 13 October 1993. The main business of the meeting was an address by Dr. Tom Millman on 'the wandering life of William Henry Cooper', based on his reading of a copy of Cooper's memoirs".
"The Canadian Church Historical Society seeks your support for its latest initiative. The Society honoured Dr. Thomas Millman, on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday, with the establishment of an endowment fund. The purpose of the fund is to endow the publishing efforts of the Society, most notably the production of its 'Journal'."
Archdeacon Hobson stated that the Historical Commission recommends that the first manuscript "A History of the Anglican Church of Canada in Atlantic Canada" written by Dr. Thomas R. Millman, be published as the first portion of the proposed series, and that the National Executive Council be asked to submit a request to the Anglican Foundation for a subsidy or guarantee to enable the Anglican Book Centre to undertake publication.
The Council agreed that no decision be made until the cost is established.
Later in the meeting Mr. Lloyd estimated that the cost of publication would be approximately $5 to $6 each or $11,000.
"The Canadian Church Historical Society celebrated the ninetieth birthday of Dr. Thomas R. Millman with a dinner in the Cody Library, Wycliffe College, Toronto on 27 June 1995. The Primate, Archbishop Peers, and many of Dr. Millman's friends and colleagues from across the country were gathered to mark the occasion. As well, letters of congratulations from the Church in the United States and England, and the resolution of appreciation passed at the 1995 General Synod were read. Among the speakers were the Primate, Dr. Shirley Spragge, past president of the Society, Archdeacon Harry Hilchey, Terry Thompson, General Synod Archivist, and Fred Neal, president of the Society. Dr. Millman responded with delightful reminiscences and penetrating comments" (p. 139). "The Society has marked Dr. Millman's achievement by establishing the Millman Endowment Fund. The income from the fund will assure the future work of the Society and in particular its publishing programme including the 'Journal'" (p. 140).
