Notes
A task force has recommended that the national church headquarters remain in Toronto. NEC is currently negotiating the construction of another building in cooperation with St. Paul's, Bloor Street. "General Synod prolocutor Diane Maybee told NEC members that the task force was unanimous in its recommendation that the national office remain in Toronto. 'The task force felt that it would have to uncover compelling reasons for recommending the removal of an already existing office which would cause severe disruption of services to and on behalf of the church, a major dislocation of staff and cost a great deal of money,' she said. She said several criteria were considered, among them domestic and international transportation facilities; accessibility to the federal government, the Canadian Council of Churches and other national church offices; adequate housing; communications production facilities and accommodation for large committee meetings".
