That this House of Bishops recommends to dioceses that when clergy are having problems they be kept on the strength of the Pension Plan for a minimum of six months. CARRIED #25-6-83
Ms. Judy Robinson, Executive Director Pension and Mr. Bob Boeckner, Trustee and member of the Pension Committee, presented the report of the Pension Committee and introduced the following motions.

1.1 Be it resolved that the Council of General Synod approve amendments to Regulation 13.2 (Leave of Absence) of the General Synod Pension Plan effective October 1, 2011

Section 2 of Regulation 13 (“Leave of Absence”) is edited to read as follows:
- 2. Except as provided in Regulation 2.5 (a), a Member who is granted leave of absence for purposes other than study, {or maternity} shall be considered an inactive Member and benefits will be provided in accordance with Regulation 11. If the leave extends for a period of at least twenty-four months without Contributions being received on behalf of the Member, settlement shall be made in accordance with Regulation 10.
The Bishop of Huron presented a submission entitled, "Leave of Absence for the Clergy" which had been considered and approved by the Ontario House of Bishops.

That we give general approval to the submission on 'Leave of Absence for the Clergy': that the General Secretary of the Canadian House of Bishops be requested to continue its work and report to the House at our next meeting and that Bishops be encouraged to follow these guidelines.
