In December 1995, Canon John Peterson, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion, "asked each of the `Networks' associated with the ACC to send a representative to a meeting to help clarify and plan for the future work of these several groups." "The Networks cover the following areas of ministry: Peace and Justice; The Liturgical Consultation; Migration and Refugees; Family; Youth; Indigenous Peoples; and Inter-Faith." The most pressing problem facing the Communion and the groups is a lack of funds. "Some of the needs for better communications have been met by our telecommunications ministry, a ministry that is about to expand into the realm of INTERNET and the WWW (World Wide Web)". Canon Peterson here asks all Anglicans to help "identify the needs of the Anglican Communion and to offer ways we can meet those needs."
"The International Anglican Family Network (IAFN) started in Melbourne, Australia, producing a valuable resource document for the 1988 Lambeth Conference on problems facing families in difference countries. As preparations start for the 1998 Lambeth Conference, Dr. Sally Thompson reviews the Network's role and potential [with particular mention of the network's newsletter]."
The entire issue of this newsletter on "Women and violence" is included, for the first time, within the pages of `Anglican World'. Include a general introduction to the subject from a Christian perspective and then looks at violence against women in fourteen difference countries. Also includes a section on the Fourth World Conference on Women at Beijing.
