Archdeacon Jim Boyles presented his report and a memorandum from Ms. Judith Kidd, Human Resources Consultant, outlining preliminary work done and proposed future steps on sexual abuse and harassment guidelines.
That the Council of General Synod request the Human Resources Consultant to continue work on sexual abuse and harassment guidelines, as outlined in the eight points of her memo of April 11th , and that she consult with the Faith Worship and Ministry Committee. CARRIED #05-05-02
Archdeacon Boyles advised that, since NEC's approval of this Policy and its Guidelines in November 1993, several concerns had been expressed and that additional changes had recently been proposed to, and approved by, the Officers of the General Synod.

Training for volunteers will take place at least once every triennium; training for new staff will take place within the first six months of employment, and at least once every three years for all staff thereafter.
Training for understanding of acceptable and unacceptable behaviours and orientation to the policy will take place in the first year of the triennium for new volunteers; a session on related topics will take place each triennium for all volunteers; training for new staff will take place within the first six months of employment and, at least once every three years there will be a training session on respectful behaviours. Special training will take place for chairs of committees and task forces each triennium. CARRIED #05-03-01
That the Handbook Concerns Committee, in consultation with the General Secretary, the Human Resources Coordinator/Consultant and others as deemed appropriate, review the Guidelines and report with recommendations for any changes to the Council of General Synod in November 2005. CARRIED #06-11-04
