"[B]y Bishop Michael Doe, General Secretary of USPG: Anglicans in World Mission".
At head of title: Signposts Series No. 2".
"General Editor: Clare Amos". -- inside back cover.
"Editorial Group: Sathianathan Clarke (India), Edward Condry (England), Duleep de Chickera (Sri Lanka), Ian Douglas (United States), Michael Fape (Nigeria), Joseph Galgalo (Kenya), Sally Sue Hernandez Garcia (Mexico), Robert Paterson (Isle of Man), Stephen Pickard (Australia), Joseph Wandera (Kenya), Gerald West (South Africa), Joo Yup Lee (Korea)". -- inside back cover,
"In May 2007, in Singapore, TEAC (the Working Party on Theological Education established by the Anglican Primates) held a meeting which focused in particular on the Anglican Way in theological education. As a result of this meeting the statement 'The Anglican Way: Signposts on a Common Journey' was agreed and published. The statement is being used at the 2008 Lambeth Conference as a resource for the discussion of Anglican identity. The statement can be found (in several languages) on the theological education section of the Anglican Communion website at www.anglicancommunion.org/ministry/theological/signposts It was also agreed that TEAC would seek to produce a series of short booklets which would offer accessible theological educational resources to enable members of the Anglican Communion -- laity and clergy -- to explore the statement or particular aspects of it in more detail. The series will be known as the 'Signposts series'. Our aim is to enable as wide a variety as possible of Anglican Christians to follow the 'Signposts' and discover more for themselves about our Anglican Way of faith. The intention is to publish these booklets electronically, in CD and web formats -- though if possible a number of paper copies will also be available. This is the first in that series of booklets. It offers a general introduction to the statement, and includes within it the complete text of the statement set out in five sections (printed in boxes in the text)." -- [Preface].
Includes bibliographical references.
"The Mission and Evangelism Advisory Team (MEAT) was constituted to give support to the work of the Anglican Communion's Mission and Evangelism Office as the latter engaged in the preparations for the [2008] Lambeth Conference. One of the contributions to this year's Lambeth Conference from the Mission and Evangelism Office is a profile of the mission and evangelism issues around the Communion. Alongside this MEAT commissioned Bishop Michael Doe to write about how Anglicans understand Mission and Evangelism. The present booklet ... is therefore linked to MEAT's desire to explore the various understandings of mission and evangelism in the Anglican Communion, that motivate Anglicans to be a mission focussed Communion. If you want to find out more about the work of the Mission and Evangelism Office contact: Revd John K. Kafwanka: Research/Project Office, Stuart Buchanan: Research and Administrative Assistant". -- [Intro.], p. 1.
"Mission is of its very essence ecumenical in both method and goals, so it is not easy, and nor may it be desirable, to isolate let alone elevate very specific Anglican elements. However, from within our history and out of what is emerging from that today, the Anglican tradition does have some distinctive emphases and in this paper I have drawn out twelve". -- p. 1.
Contents: [Preface] -- [Introduction] divided into sections: 1. Missio Dei -- 2. Centrality of Jesus Christ -- 3. Holistic Mission -- 4. Understanding Mission Needs Scripture, Tradition and Reason -- 5. Theological Diversity -- 6. The Role of the Church in Mission -- 7. Incarnational -- 8. Cultural Sensitivity -- 9. Openness to Truth and Acceptance of Our Own Incompleteness -- 10. Leadership and Community -- 11. Communion-Wide Activity and Mutual Support -- 12. Ecumenical -- Conclusion -- Endnotes.

The new Centre for Anglican Communion Studies (CEFACS) opened 1 December 1992 at Selly Oak in Birmingham. "The emphasis of the one-year CEFACS programme is on learning through experience and sharing with one another. ... The participants study Anglican history and tradition for the light that it can shed on their own church and the Anglican church today. The syllabus calls it `studying history in reverse'." "The second term of the programme is devoted to `issues facing the Anglican church today'. For many Anglican churches the question of inculturation is a controversial issue." "Another key issue facing many of the participants is mission in the Decade of Evangelism".
"This article first appeared in the Church Times and is reprinted here with permission from the Editor (18.1.93)".
