"Deacons from Dallas (U.S.A.), Argentina, Uruguay and Cuba met with deacons and lay ministers from Peru for a week long conference at the end of April and beginning of May [2007]. The purpose was to enrich and encourage deacons in their office and ministry and to promote the 'permanent diaconate' in the Diocese of Peru". Prior to the International AIDS Conference, "the Christians, Muslims and Buddhists organized separate pre-Conference meetings for their own communities. The Pre-Conference meetings focused on workshops, sharing and discussions in the light of their particular religious teachings, principles and experiences."
