- That NEC:
- 1. Approve the following priorities for national ecumenical coalitions for 1995:
- High: stewardship of creation; human rights; economic justice issues in Canada; addressing violence in society, against women in particular; Africa region - justice issues; Asia/Pacific region - justice issues; Latin America/Caribbean region - justice issues; Developing local/national and international links.
- Medium: aboriginal rights and issues; corporations; China - ecumenical relations; refugees - Canadian government refugee policy; North American lifestyle today.
- Low: elections/participatory democracy; India and other united church ecumenical relations; Middle East justice and church issues.
- 2. request that the funding bodies - Partners in Canadian Mission Unit (PCMU), Partners in World Mission (PWM) and the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) - take these priorities into account in developing grants to coalitions in 1995.
- 3. request the coalitions task force to report to NEC in March 1995 on priorities for 1996.
- 4. undertake to set priorities in March 1995 as a basis for budget allocations for 1996. CARRIED #46-11-94

- That the Council of the General Synod request:
- 1. the standing committees presently funding ecumenical coalitions to take the above priorities into account in developing grants to coalitions in 1997;
- 2. those standing committees whose coalition work is funded by the apportionment budget to allow some loosening of the "coalition baskets" in order to permit movement of unallocated funds outside the "baskets" to coalitions that have successfully remandated;
- 3. the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples to consider becoming a funding partner of The Aboriginal Rights Coalition in 1997. CARRIED #35-03-96

- That the Anglican agencies which fund the various Coalitions be asked to report annually to the NEC/Council of General Synod on the work of the Coalitions so funded by them.
- The mover and seconder agreed to change the words "Anglican agencies" to "Standing committees".
- The motion now reads:
