"By J. McLeod Campbell, Hon. Canon of Canterbury, General Secretary of the Missionary Council of the Church Assembly".
"Published for the Missionary Council of the Church Assembly by the Press and Publications Board, 2 Great Peter Street, S.W.I."

"For seven consecutive years, 1933 to 1939, the Missionary Council issued Unified Statements, which surveyed the work of the Anglican Communion throughout the world. These were based on letters from the Bishops of Overseas Dioceses, who reported special needs and noteworthy events. The letters were carefully edited by eight Area Committees, composed of representatives of all the Societies concerned, with first-hand knowledge of the respective areas. Statistics provided by all the Anglican Missionary Societies were added showing their revenue and estimated expenditure. The book was then carefully scrutinised by the Missionary Council, and afterwards submitted to the Church Assembly. It was issued with the Church Assembly imprimatur, and a Foreword by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and was published by the Press and Publications Board. .... The present volume cannot lay claim to the authority of its predecessors. Correspondence with the Bishops overseas has been exposed to many risks and delays, and could not be as complete as in former years. Area Committees have been unable to meet. The paper shortage has made it impossible to circulate proofs to the Missionary Council, who cannot therefore be held responsible for the contents. The book has not been laid before the Church Assembly. It has, however, been decided to retain the sub-title 'Unified Statement' as indicating the scope and intention of the Survey, and to regard this as the War number of the series, produced under war-time conditions, in answer to the frequent inquiry, 'What of the World-wide Church in war-time ?' " -- Preface.

"The Report of a Working Group to the Board of Mission on the Church of England's Structures and Relationships in World Mission".
"First published in 1994 by the Board of Mission of the General Synod of the Church of England. Copyright The Central Board of Finance of the Church of England 1994". -- verso of t.-p.
Includes bibliography, p. 70-72.
Working Group chaired by the Rt. Rev. Patrick Harris, Bishop of Southwell.
"If one was starting from scratch to form structures for world mission for the Church of England in the 1990s, one might not start from where we are today ! But as with many other national institutions in the country, structures have evolved and been adapted over the years, moulded by circumstances, individuals, historic accidents and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. .... To enable the Church of England to be more effective and relevant there are changes of structure and ways of relating that need to be adopted. The purpose of this report is to review the changing ways in which the Church of England is engaging with its partner Churches within the Anglican Communion and beyond in sharing in God's mission in today's world, not just overseas but also in allowing others to assist us in our mission in this country. The report reminds us of our heritage. It identifies changes. It indicates ways in which the historic mission agencies, the more recently developed system of diocesan companion links, parishes and aid agencies may collaborate more efficiently and sensitively with our partners overseas". -- Preface.
Contents: Preface / Patrick Southwell i.e. Patrick Harris, Bishop of Southwell -- Foreword -- Members of the Working Group -- Introduction -- Developments in the Anglican Communion -- The World Mission Agencies -- Diocesan Links and Structures -- Parishes -- Relations with Development Agencies -- Church to Church Relations and the Mission Agencies -- Conclusion -- List of Recommendations -- Appendix One: Some changes in English society that have affected the Church and its agencies -- Appendix Two: The world mission agencies of the Church of England -- Appendix Three: Diocesan companion links -- Appendix Four: Diocesan Associations and other bodies -- Appendix Five: Bibliography of reports and documents used in preparation of this report.
