- The author describes the effects and aftermath of the 26 December 2004 tsunami. Greg Thompson of the Australian agency AngliCORD travelled to Sri Lanka in March with the Rev. Thevathasan Premarajah (Prem), a Tamil Sri Lankan who moved to Australia ten years ago. "They arrived in Sri Lanka to find great material need and a population suffering the loss of whole communities, whole families, and even their landscape". "I have never seen so many men in need", [Prem] said, of the men left behind mourning wives and children who died. Usually women and children are left behind after war but in the tsunami, women and children were disproportionately represented in the dead, weighed down by clothing and disadvantaged by size and lack of strength". "The conflict in Sri Lanka left the community better equipped in many ways to deal with the disaster, because crisis procedures were already in place. In each district a consortium of agencies discusses and coordinates responses, including Churches who play a role at the national and parish levels. Greg said, `There is hope in Sri Lanka and overseas that this level of cooperation may contribute to what Bishop Duleep of Colombo calls a "sustainable peace".' He is also encouraged by the cooperation between interfaith bodies, providing an opportunity for building stronger relationships in the future".

- Issue of IAFN Newsletter included as part of the Anglican World for Eastertide 2005. An editorial and series of short reports from different agencies and countries about interfaith families. "[T]heological problems become practical issues in the case of inter faith marriage and family life, and this newsletter deals with the real problems of couples and families who try to cross religious divisions. Frequently, these divisions are made more difficult because they also involve cultural differences. But the newsletter also tells of successes." "This newsletter, with articles from many parts of the Anglican Communion, shows couples and young people reaching out and crossing inter faith boundaries. - There will be an international NIFCON consultation in Bangalore, South India, in September 2003. On 11 September 2003 Archbishop Rowan Williams will attend the third meeting of a Christian-Muslim Commission established by Archbishop George Carey at the Islamic University of Al Azhar in Cairo. These meetings are sometimes known as the Al Azhar dialogue after the university where they first met. NIFCON has recently expanded its web site to provide monitoring of Christian Muslim relations around the Communion.
- Report also contains the full text of a story on the current political and interfaith context in Sri Lanka which has been moving toward real peace and interfaith cooperation. The article, written by Andrew Wingate, originally appeared in the Church Times of 20 September 2002 and highlights the interfaith work of Bishop Duleep de Chickera, Anglican Bishop of Colombo in the Church of Ceylon.

- The author discusses religious conversions particularly in Sri Lanka, outlining some of the reasons why people may choose to convert from one religion to another, including converts who do so in response to material support or aid from one group or in order "to gain more acceptance and respect and to feel comfortable within the community". In Sri Lanka, in order to reduce tensions within the different religious communities caused by conversions, the author suggests that they be handled "in consultation with religious leaders of the community. When someone expresses a wish to change their religion they could be counselled by a leader of the faith they presently belong to and also a leader of the faith they wish to embrace. This kind of understanding is specially important in areas which are, in the main, traditionally of one faith".

- The National Christian Council of Sri Lanka has released a document, signed by the two Anglican bishops of the Church of Ceylon, the Rt. Rev. Kumara Illangasinghe and the Rt. Rev. Duleep de Chickera, among others. The document expresses "concern atthe stirring up of resentment against Christians" and so-called "unethical conversions" "The signatories consider it is a basic right of the citizens of Sri Lanka to choose a religion, belief or ideology and conclude by stating their inability to support any legislation that seeks to restrict conversions for whatever reason"." A postscript to the article adds: "Since the issue of the statement by the National Christian Council a number of people responsible for much of the violence against churches have been arrested and charged. The Christian community is hopeful that the problems may begin to abate."
