A church in Ottawa diocese has reaped the benefits of a local bank's seasonal piggy-bank collection. The windfall came after Donald Wallingford, manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia across the street from St. James' Church in Hull, Que., felt the daily open doors indicated the church's outreach efforts. The bank gave the $693, donations which canoe from staff and customers, to the church".
"Ottawa and Carleton schools boards in the diocese of Ottawa are considering the introduction of education in religion programs proposed by the Diocesan Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen. The Ottawa board had agreed to have staff review the program to determine where a pilot project could best be launched. The Carleton board is examining the feasibility of doing something similar".
Letter to the editor describing that bales are still sent to and needed by the Diocese of the Arctic. Last year [1997] the Anglican Church Women of the diocese of Ottawa sent "88 bales (in cardboard boxes measuring five cubic feet and weighing 15 kilograms) ... to the Arctic by mail. Value was approximately $48,000."
