That this Council of General Synod affirm and support the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples as it works towards the implementation of the Pinawa Declaration of August 2005, and prepares to nominate a bishop for appointment by the Primate as the first National Indigenous Bishop.

Discussion:
Council discussed the resolution. The Primate commented that he envisions a process for the first bishop whereby the ACIP would nominate to the Primate their selection of a person already a bishop.

That the Council of General Synod endorse the resolution of the House of Bishops urging Bishop Terry Buckle to withdraw his offer of episcopal oversight for 7 parishes seeking alternative episcopal oversight in the Diocese of New Westminster.
Friendly amendment
The mover and seconder agreed to replace the word "endorse" with "concur with" and to include the full text of the House of Bishops' motion. The amended motion now reads:
That this Council of General Synod concur with the resolution of the House of Bishops urging Bishop Terry Buckle to withdraw his offer of episcopal oversight for 7 parishes seeking alternative episcopal oversight in the Diocese of New Westminster, the text of which reads:
"That this House, while appreciating his desire to be helpful, and in light of the appointment of Bishop William Hockin to a special ministry in the Diocese of New Westminster, urges Bishop Terry Buckle to withdraw his offer of Episcopal oversight for the seven parishes seeking alternative Episcopal oversight in the Diocese of New Westminster. CARRIED #32-05-03

Text
That the Council of the General Synod seek the cooperation and assistance of the House of Bishops in determining ways to engage in conversation with each other on the following:
- understanding both the nature and purpose of both the Order of Bishops and House of Bishops
- encouraging mutual support and commitment between bishops and the Council of General Synod in addressing issues facing the church, such as leadership, prophetic roles, pastoral responsibilities, moral and ethical challenges, and accountability.
