That Section 6 (5) of Canon XIV "The Lay Retirement Fund", now reading:
- "In the event of the death of a member in the Fund, such member's contributions and vested employer's contributions shall be paid to the beneficiary of the member."
be changed to read:
- "In the event of the death of a member in the Fund, such member's contributions and vested employer's contributions shall be paid to the estate of that member."
and that Section 6, Paragraph 6 (a) now reading:
- "Have a cash return of all personal contributions, and any vested employer contributions, without interest."
- "Have a cash return of all personal contributions, and any vested employer contributions, with interest."
The same to come into force the 1st September, 1959. (See pp. 67, 99.)

That Section 6 (5) of Canon XIV, "The Lay Retirement Fund", be amended to read as follows: (For text of resolution see p. 52.)
Message U-23:
The Upper House concurs in Message L-56 of the Lower House. (See p. 67.)
In substitution for #5 on page 265, the following Resolution:
Whereas there is deep concern about the status and the remuneration of the full-time women workers in the Anglican Church of Canada,
Be it resolved
That the General Synod urges that the following measures be adopted in each Diocese,
(a) That all Women involved in full-time programmed work in each Diocese be licensed or commissioned by the Bishop and that they be members of the Diocesan Synod.
(b) That taking into account their qualifications and work the remuneration of such women be comparable to the schedule of clergy salary and allowances of the Diocese in which they are employed.
(c) That the Diocesan authorities ensure that such women workers be made members of the appropriate Church pension plan. CARRIED in both Houses.
"That this General Synod support the Pension Committee in its goal to ensure that The Anglican Church of Canada at all levels (national, diocesan, parochial, educational, institutional, etc.) treat its employees in a just and equitable manner with regard to pensions, insurance, health care, and other employee benefits."
