That the work of the Commission on Church Vocations be carried on in future within the Department of Religious Education and that the Commission be dissolved as of General Synod, 1962.
That a staff person be appointed to carry on the work of the Commission on Church Vocations and that he be supported by a strong working committee such as the divisional committees of the Department of Religious Education.
That the present budget of the Commission be made available to carry on this work.
That this staff person also assume the responsibilities as Secretary of the Division of College Work. RESOLVED by both Houses.
That this General Synod express its thanks to the Rev. Bernard Barrett for his work as Secretary of the Commission on Vocations and extends its best wishes to him on his return to parochial life as Rector of Trail. CARRIED in both Houses.
That General Synod accepts the recommendation of the National Executive Council that the terms of reference of the Commission on Fixed Primatial See be broadened to make it a Commission on the Primacy. CARRIED in both Houses.
That Canon VII (Department of Christian Social Service) be repealed and that the program duties and powers of the Department be merged in the authority of the Program Committee, and the administrative and financial powers and functions be merged in the authority of the Administration and Finance Committee. CARRIED in both Houses.
That this General Synod approves the Principles of Faith and Order outlined by the Committees of Ten as a basis of agreement upon which to proceed in working out the details of the organizational union with The United Church and any other Church prepared to accept them. CARRIED in both Houses.
That this General Synod approves the Principles of Organizational Union outlined by the Committees of Ten as a basis of the structure of a United Church. CARRIED in both Houses.
That this General Synod approves the Recommendations with regard to the steps to be taken as we move towards organizational union, as outlined in Section IV of the Report of the Committees of Ten. CARRIED in both Houses.
That this General Synod, having approved the Principles of Faith and Order, the Principles of Organizational Union and the Recommendations presented in the Report of the Committee on Christian Unity and the Church Universal, commends them to the Dioceses of The Anglican Church of Canada for their prayerful study and consideration. CARRIED in both Houses.
That, if and when The United Church of Canada approves the Principles of Union, the National Executive Council, in consultation with the Christian Unity Committee, be given authority to appoint Anglican members to the General Commission and to the several other Commissions as set forth in Recommendations IV and V of this Report.
