That this General Synod desires to express to the Rev. Canon A.R. Kelley our very deep sense of indebtedness to him for his continuing services on the Archives Committee, and that this appreciation be conveyed to him. CARRIED in both Houses.
That this Synod desires to place on record its sense of gratitude to the Most Reverend L.R. Sherman, Archbishop of Rupert's Land for his able, inspiring and dynamic leadership during the period of his Chairmanship of the Budget Committee. As its first Chairman, he did much to inaugurate the principles of goodwill and consultation which have been largely instrumental in securing steadily increasing response from our Dioceses towards the work of the three Boards. Under his inspiration, we are aware of a growing sense of stewardship among our clergy and people. His Chairmanship has brought the work of the church to a degree of financial security and strength which it has never before enjoyed.
The General Synod wishes to go on record as appreciating to the fullest degree his work as Chairman of the Budget Committee and as rejoicing in the fact the Committee is to continue to have the benefit of his presence and counsel as Honorary Chairman of that Committee. CARRIED by Standing Vote in both Houses.
That the Canon attached to the report of the Commission on Marriage and Related Matters as Schedule A be adopted as Canon XXVIIA. CARRIED in both Houses.
Notes
Canon XXVIIA must be held over until the next Synod for reconsideration.
