Notes
N.B. Because of difficulties which arose in arranging accommodation, it became necessary to schedule the December meeting of the House of Bishops for December 2-7, 1973.
It was generally agreed that, due to the amount of material addressed from General Synod to the House of Bishops, the House meet in Niagara Falls on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The Bishops' wives are invited to accompany their respective husbands.
"That Number 2 be amended to read: 'The Chairman of the four such assemblies shall in each case be a person present who shall have already been appointed to the General Synod Nominating Committee." CARRIED

"That instead of the words put forward in the amendment, we add these words to section 5 of Canon XX:
'In the event of the said Bishop or his successor refusing to terminate such relinquishment and reinstate the priest (or deacon) the said priest (or deacon) may appeal to the Metropolitan of the Province who shall take the necessary Canonical action to judge the case. In the case where the Diocesan is the Metropolitan, the next senior bishop will take the necessary canonical action.'"

"We recommend that the Diocesan concerned notify his Metropolitan before he takes such action, and that the said Metropolitan confer with the other Metropolitans to ensure that there is no impediment to the proposed re-instatement." CARRIED
"We recommend that the names of all postulants be registered with the Personnel Office and that the Sponsoring Bishop identify the men whom he will not be able to place within his own Diocese and that this notice be given no later than the beginning of the postulant's final year in seminary." CARRIED
"We recommend that where a Bishop has ordained a Deacon (who would ordinarily proceed to the Priesthood), and the Bishop, for just cause, has not proceeded with ordination to the Priesthood, the said Bishop should advise his Metropolitan of the situation and the reasons therefore and the Metropolitan in his turn shall transmit this advice to the other Metropolitans and notice be given to the Personnel Office. CARRIED
