That this NEC affirm the direct mail approach for the Anglican Appeal as the norm, with provision for negotiation with dioceses for other methods where needed. CARRIED #25-05-94
1. the death in December 1994 of Chris Anderson, son of Arthur, after a long period of unconsciousness following a fire, and extend its sympathy and assurance of its prayers to the family;
2. the tragic death of the Reverend Ron Armstrong and Canon David Busby, noting Ron's particular ministry in Bequia, St. Vincent, where he founded and operated the Bequia Mission and assisted in many development projects; and noting David's long ministry of service in the Diocese of Toronto, most recently as Rector of Trinity Church, Barrie, and his service as a member of General Synod in 1983, 1986, 1989 and 1992; and extend its sympathy and assurance of its prayers to the surviving families;
3. the death of Father Stan Bak, former Director of the Queen of the Apostles Renewal Centre and gracious host to the National Executive Council for several years, and extend its sympathy to the Oblate Fathers and staff at Queen of Apostles. CARRIED #03-03-95
That the NEC request the Executive Director of Program to involve staff and volunteers in the presentation of two regional conferences bringing together diocesan stewardship leaders to determine how stewardship education can continue to be effectively carried out at the parish and diocesan levels. That this NEC commend the resolution from the Stewardship and Financial Development Committee which is going forward to the General Synod. CARRIED #46-03-95
Notes
The resolution reads:
That General Synod declare as an immediate priority the need to consult dioceses about funding requirements of The Plan, "Preparing the Way", for parishes, dioceses and the national church and, specifically, the feasibility of a coordinated fundraising campaign throughout the church, primarily to benefit parishes and dioceses;
that the National Executive Council or its successor body be authorized to respond to the recommendations of the feasibility study; and
that funding for the consultative process to a maximum of $100,000 come from funds already designated for financial development.
