That this General Synod, as provided for in section 7(b)(iii) of the Declaration of Principles, give its consent to the declaration of the Synod of the Ecclesiastical Province of Canada in September 1994 that the boundaries of the Diocese of Nova Scotia are co-terminous with the boundaries of the civil provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. CARRIED Act 70
1. That this General Synod rejoices and celebrates with all the people of the Republic of South Africa in their hard won freedom and the peaceful election of their first democratic government, and therefore affirms the sacrificial and invaluable contribution made by our partners (the South African Council of Churches and the Church of the Province of Southern Africa) to the process of dismantling apartheid;
2. That this General Synod encourages all Canadian Anglicans to continue to hold up our partners in prayer and solidarity as they keep on in their transforming mission;
3. That the contents of this resolution be conveyed to the South Africa Council of Churches and the Church of the Province of Southern Africa. CARRIED Act 51

NEC members viewed three videos - native people telling stories of their experiences in residential schools, the Anglican Church's apology delivered by the Primate, and an apology from Jim Cruickshank, Bishop of Cariboo. Discussion then took place in table groups.
That this NEC extend a vote of thanks to the Primate for presenting with such grace and love the apology from the Anglican Church of Canada to aboriginal Anglicans who had been abused while attending church-run residential schools. CARRIED #06-11-93
