Prologue
Several areas of concern were identified. It was felt that release of the document, as it now stands, would create difficulties.
Text
That the resolution be prefaced with the statement `that this House of Bishops found difficulty for various reasons with the statement of the Human Rights Principles for the Anglican Church of Canada and does not commend it to the National Executive Council.' CARRIED
The Motion, as amended, was put and carried as follows:
That this House of Bishops, while grateful for the work and the modifications which the Human Rights Unit has taken, found difficulty with the statement, for various reasons, of the Human Rights Principles for the Anglican Church of Canada and does not commend it to the National Executive Council; and
That this House of Bishops establish its own task force to examine the document entitled "Human Rights Principles for the Anglican Church of Canada" and bring recommendations to the next meeting of this House of Bishops; and
That National Executive Council be asked to withhold this item from its agenda until the House of Bishops has had time to deal with its task force report. CARRIED
