That this National Executive Council support the continuing dialogue between the church, business, government and labour and name a committee to work with the Chairman of the Public Social Responsibility Unit to organize a conference with government and the "private sector" on Canadian responsibilities in the Third World. WITHDRAWN
It was agreed that requests should be channelled through the Program Committee who is asked to appoint people to represent the Anglican Church of Canada.
Following discussion it was agreed that the above motion should be re-worded and two motions developed in its place.
That (i) this National Executive Council support the continuing dialogue between the church, business, government and labour and particularly commends the model of the 1978 conference as a way of expressing our common concern in confronting issues that are enormous and complex; and
(ii) request the Primate, the General Secretary and the Chairman of the Public Social Responsibility Unit, to appoint a working group to organize such a conference focussing on Canadian responsibilities in the "Third World." CARRIED
The Rev. J. Boyles reviewed the proposal for an expanded French/English Relations Project and the Rev. Canon R. Turpin was invited to address the Council.
That the National Executive Council approve the project on condition that funds are available from the Johnson Bequest or the Anglican Foundation for 1980; otherwise implementation be delayed until January, 1981 and the Program Committee be asked to include funds in its 1981 budget. CARRIED
The Ven. E. Rigby, Chairman of the Task Force on Funding National Goals, presented the Report of the Task Force. He thanked Mr. Don Burpee for his hard work on the Joint Task Force which arranged Appeal `74 and the Rev. R. Fellows and others of the National staff for their support.
Archdeacon Rigby made reference to Appeal `74 and informed Synod that Appeal `75 will take place in late November.
Mr. D.M. Burpee was called upon to introduce a National Executive Council resolution on national appeals for 1976 and 1977.
"That this General Synod approve a National Appeal in each of the years 1976 and 1977 and that the Joint Task Force on Funding National Goals be asked to set overall financial targets after the Appeal purposes have been approved by the National Executive Council."

That in the light of the receipts of the 1979 Anglican Appeal this National Executive Council revise the target of the Appeal for 1980 to $1,000,000, which figure will be greater than the amount received during the last Appeal. CARRIED
