The Prolocutor suspended debate on this motion in order to acknowledge a scheduled Order of the Day. Further debate on the Amendment to Canon I was rescheduled for Monday afternoon, June 19, 1989. (See page 30.)

That this General Synod adopt the following Terms of Reference of the Inter-Church/Inter-Faith Relations Committee:
The Committee shall:
a) promote an understanding of the essential unity of the Church universal and of the religious pluralism of Canada and the world;
b) carry out and foster harmonious relations between the Anglican Church of Canada and
i churches with which the Anglican Church of Canada is in full visible communion including provinces of the Anglican Communion,
ii Christian churches with which the Anglican Church of Canada is not in full visible communion, and
iii other living faiths;
c) maintain relationships with the Anglican Consultative Council, Canadian Council of Churches, World Council of Churches and other inter-church or inter-faith bodies, including the nomination to National Executive Council of representatives to such bodies;
d) recommend policy proposals to the General Synod with regard to the foregoing;
e) develop a budget for its areas of responsibility;
f) consult as necessary with other national committees; and
g) maintain liaison with the House of Bishops and committees of the Anglican Church of Canada as appropriate. CARRIED WITHOUT DEBATE Act 45

That this General Synod applaud the response of the Lambeth Conference to The Final Report of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission, noting that concerns expressed in the response of the Anglican Church of Canada are on the agenda of the second Anglican Church International Commission, and look forward to further official response by the Roman Catholic Church and progress toward accepting the implications of these agreed statements in the lives of both churches. That this General Synod:
1. Welcome The Final Report of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission as an important contribution to the reconciliation of the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches.
2. Accept the agreed statements on Eucharistic Doctrine, and Ministry and Ordination, together with their Elucidations as consonant in substance with the faith of the Anglican Church of Canada.
3. Declare the agreed statements on Authority in the Church (I and II), together with the Elucidation of Authority I sufficiently agreeable with Anglican teaching to provide grounds for continued dialogue.
4. Support ARCIC II in its work and refer for its consideration the concerns raised in the "Report on Diocesan Responses to The Final Report".
5. Agree that The Final Report offers a sufficient basis for taking the next concrete step towards the reconciliation of our churches grounded in agreement in faith. CARRIED IN ALL ORDERS Act 56

That this National Executive Council request that the Primate write to the Prime Minister of Canada expressing our dismay that Canada Post Corporation has not seen fit to issue a postage stamp during 1987 to commemorate the bicentenary of the Anglican episcopacy in Canada, an event that has been acknowledged as being of importance to members of the Anglican Church of Canada across this country, and which will be acknowledged by Anglicans from all provinces and territories of Canada through a national celebration in October 1987.
