That as part of the great programme of advance now being put forth by the Church of England in Canada, this General Synod invites all Diocesan Social Service Committees to organize and hold "Canadian Malverns"; and suggests that the basis of deliberation and action shall be the "Statement on Social Welfare and World Order" issued by the Council for Social Service at this Synod. And we suggest further that for this purpose the General Secretary be respectfully asked to forward to all Chairmen of Diocesan Social Service Committees a copy of the statement and any other matter germane to the subject. A. That a Preaching Mission with accompanying Teaching Seminars be arranged to touch all major centres, under Missioners including three or four outstanding religious leaders from each of these areas: Great Britain, United States, Canada.

That the General Synod endorse the Recommendations of the National Committee for Autumn 1938 as set forth in Section 2A. CARRIED in both Houses.
That this House express its appreciation of the splendid work done by Rev. Canon A.R. Kelley, Mr. R.W. Allin, and Rev. Canon W.B. Heeney, D.D., in respect of the Archives of the Church in Canada. CARRIED Message T.
That the Board of Finance be empowered to grant a sum not exceeding $300 for the triennium to the sub-committee of the Committee on Evangelism, appointed by the Primate to deal with anti-Christian philosophies, for necessary expenses incurred in carrying forward the work of their sub-committee. CARRIED in both Houses.
That this General Synod, having heard of the great need for helping in the restoration of Christian forces in Europe and the preservation of Christian civilization there, and understanding that the Canadian Council of Churches, upon receipt of news and requests from the World Council of Churches, is desirous of launching a special campaign to secure additional funds for this task, hereby pledges the support of the Church of England in Canada in such campaign; further, that we set as an objective for our share in this effort a sum not less than $35,000 it being understood that the appeal is to be made outside of the regular budget appeals of the Church; and that this be remitted to the Committee on Ecumenical Affairs for action. (a) That this General Synod recognizing the increasingly severe restrictions imposed by the Government and people of Canada concerning food and certain amenities of life, and having due regard to the whole morale of the people in the conduct of the war, expresses the opinion that the Federal Government will be justified in at least continuing the modest restrictive measures regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages at present in effect, and,
(b) Further expresses the hope that our Church people will try by all means in their power to forward the cause of true temperance for the better protection of the youth and young womanhood of our country and for the better prosecution of the war. CARRIED in both Houses.
