"Here lies the deepest reason for the clear rejection of homosexual behaviour in both Old and New Testament: homosexual behaviour blurs the reflection of the image of God to the point of making it unrecognizable. Against this it may be argued that surely marriage will not be lost simply because part of mankind has different sexual lifestyles. However, the uniqueness of marriage will be lost if we allow marriage to become simply a variant among other sexual lifestyles, we darken the image of God on earth. Philosophers have called our time a divine eclipse" (p. 8). "Although homosexuality can be discussed far more openly than in the past, there is considerable distress below the surface. Changing homosexual orienation is possible, but it takes time. Habits and feelings do not change overnight. There are more and more Christian self-help groups which openly address the problems of homosexual behaviour and other sexual addictions. But many, many more are needed ! The two most important things needed by persons who want to overcome their homosexual orientation are: giving up the homosexual liefstyle and becoming part of a Christian fellowship. Christians must start offering such fellowship again, for people with a homosexual orientation are men and women like you and me" (p. 10). -- Intro.
