That this National Executive Council express to the Governments of Canada and the Provinces our dismay at the failure of the final scheduled First Ministers' Conference with Aboriginal self-government on the Constitution.
Further, that we reaffirm our support for the Aboriginal Peoples in their struggle for self-government and commit ourselves to work together to find new ways to entrench the right of self-government in the Constitution. CARRIED #56-05-87

- A letter from the Unit on Human Rights concering reprinting the Book of Common Prayer because of the Good Friday Collect for the conversion of the Jews.
The Primate stated he shares the sentiments of the Unit but only General Synod can amend the Book of Common Prayer and the most the National Executive Council could do is recommend changes to General Synod.

That the Primate appoint a Task Force to examine the whole process of, and criteria related to, nominations to General Synod Committees and to bring the recommendations to the National Executive Council to be put in place for the next General Synod.

That this National Executive Council endorse the recommencement of observance of the Universal Day of Prayer for Students on February 22, 1987, and encourage members to promote its observance in their dioceses. CARRIED #40-11-86
