"One of the treasures of Anglican spirituality has been its authorised Book of Common Prayer, helpful both for personal devotion and public liturgical worship. The prayer book of 1662 has served Anglicans well, and for longer than its English authors might have imagined. Now all over the Anglican world, prayer books more suitable to local and contemporary needs are finding favour. Though new in language and content, 'A New Zealand Prayer Book', He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa', preserves the ethos of Anglican spirituality and incorporates the best liturgical insights modern scholarship provides. It is also more faithful to the earliest liturgical traditions of the Church and allows more flexibility than the book of 1662. More importantly, the New Zealand Prayer Book has been created in our own Pacific cultural setting, and shaped by our own scholarship. It belongs to our environment and our people. We are thankful for the many hours of dedicated work done by the Prayer Book Commission since 1965. The result is a lively book, inclusive in language, comprehensive in purpose and rich in content". -- Preface.

"Edited by Alister E. McGrath".
Includes bibliographical references and index.
"This volume aims to survey the heritage of Anglican theology, not as a matter of historical or antiquarian interest, but on the assumption that future theological reconstruction and reformulation will need to engage with that heritage. The work opens with a global survey of Anglicanism, providing in-depth analysis of the evolution of Anglican theology in eight major regions of the world. .... The second major section of the work provides an analysis of a selection of nearly one hundred Anglican theologians who are held to be of continuing relevance to the Anglican Communion in its pastoral, teaching, ecumenical, apologetic and evangelistic tasks. It is impossible , and in any case not particularly helpful, to provide an exhaustive list of Anglican theologians. The writers to be presented here have been identified on the basis of a worldwide consultation, in which the primary consideration was the potential of such theologians to be a resource to Anglicanism in the future." -- Preface.
Contents: List of Contributors -- Preface / Alister E. McGrath -- Internet Resources -- Part 1: A Regional Survey of Anglican Theology -- Part 2: A Survey of [95] Anglican Theologians -- Index.

Crockett -- Australia / Charles Sherlock -- New Zealand and Polynesia / Brian N.
