Bishop Short, David Carter and Bishop Berry presented the report of the Doctrine and Worship Committee.
Bishop Short, in reviewing the report, made special note of the service entitled "The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage" which will be presented to General Synod for approval and publication. It is hoped that a Eucharistic Liturgy will be ready for use and presentation to the 1979/1980 General Synod.
Bishop Short mentioned that the idea of a new Prayer Book for Canada has been discussed at the last meeting of the Doctrine and Worship Committee but stated that no action had been taken. After a brief discussion Bishop Berry gave notice of motion to come later in the meeting.
It was noted that the booklet "Christian Initiation" did not readily identify its sponsors and a request was made that this be corrected.
David Holeton of Vancouver has been working with the Rev. W. Crockett on a revised three-year cycle Lectionary. It was requested that a check be made to see that the Old Testament is properly covered and possibly a section be inserted for family prayer.
That the report of the Doctrine and Worship Committee be received. CARRIED
That the General Secretary be instructed to place Plan of Union on the agenda for the 1975 General Synod, and take whatever preliminary steps that are required to implement this decision, including wide publicity throughout the Church. CARRIED
Chancellor Ryan, a member of the Committee on Union and Joint Mission, spoke to the following Motion passed at the December, 1973 meeting of the Committee.
"That in accordance with the mandate, 'to develop a climate for a true and lasting union' given by the Churches to the Committee on Union and Joint Mission; in the spirit of Lund Principle, 'that we should do together everything which conscience does not compel us to do separately'; and recognizing the need for practical and symbolic actions at the national level to undergird and complement local and regional initiatives in the area of joint mission, this Committee requests the National Executive Council, the All Canada Committee and the Executive of the General Council, to deal jointly during 1974 with the following matters:
a) the creation of a new publication to take the place of The Canadian Churchman, the Canadian Disciple and the United Church Observer;
b) the unification of administrative units at national levels, eg. Christian Education, Communications;
c) co-operative use of space in national headquarters buildings."

The intent of the above Motion was to allow discussion of the Motion of the Committee on Union and Joint Mission in relationship to the report of the Canadian Churchman to the National Executive Council.

It was agreed to vote on the three proposals from the Committee on Union and Joint Mission separately.

c) That the National Executive Council consider during 1974 the cooperative use of space in National Headquarter buildings. DEFEATED
That this National Executive Council commends the two statements (Eucharist, Ministry) of the Anglican/Roman Catholic International Commission to the diocesan synods for study and discussion before General Synod '75. CARRIED
That this National Executive Council recommends that the Anglican Church of Canada agree to adopt a common (ecumenical) baptismal certificate, and that this decision be communicated to the Canadian Council of Churches. CARRIED
That this National Executive Council refer to the Administration and Finance Committee an upward revision of the present allowances for transportation and meals for members of committees/task forces, in the light of increased costs. CARRIED
