It was agreed that National Executive Council should be notified that this was referred back to the Doctrine and Worship Committee.
Archbishop O'Driscoll requested on behalf of the bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario that consideration be given to shortening the length of the spring 1998 meeting to the afternoon of Tuesday, May 19 until the morning of Thursday, May 21. (The meeting was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 16 - Wednesday, May 20.) The request was made because of the number of meetings the members of the House are committed to during the spring and summer (five days at General Synod, and then three weeks in July and August at the Lambeth Conference.) Discussion followed.

That the House of Bishops meet on Tuesday, May 19 to noon Thursday, May 21 before General Synod in Montreal. CARRIED
Several areas of concern were identified. It was felt that release of the document, as it now stands, would create difficulties.

That the resolution be prefaced with the statement `that this House of Bishops found difficulty for various reasons with the statement of the Human Rights Principles for the Anglican Church of Canada and does not commend it to the National Executive Council.' CARRIED
The Motion, as amended, was put and carried as follows:
That this House of Bishops, while grateful for the work and the modifications which the Human Rights Unit has taken, found difficulty with the statement, for various reasons, of the Human Rights Principles for the Anglican Church of Canada and does not commend it to the National Executive Council; and
That this House of Bishops establish its own task force to examine the document entitled "Human Rights Principles for the Anglican Church of Canada" and bring recommendations to the next meeting of this House of Bishops; and
That National Executive Council be asked to withhold this item from its agenda until the House of Bishops has had time to deal with its task force report. CARRIED
That the House of Bishops request the NEC to revise the Declaration of Human Rights Principles and to present it for consideration to General Synod in 1992.

That the House of Bishops request the NEC to revise the Declaration of Human Rights Principles and to present it, after prior consultation with the dioceses, for consideration to General Synod in 1992.
Archbishop Crawley noted that the minutes of the last meeting of the House of Bishops listed Bishop Wallace incorrectly as "D.D. Duncan" and that they should be amended to read "D.D. Wallace".

- In the second sentence of the section on the 'Anglican Church Directory' (page 24), the word "not" was omitted after the phrase "information which can __...etc". That line was incorrectly minuted as "Electronic mail addresses are now personal infomation which can be published without prior consent...etc.". The sentence should have been written as "...Electronic mail addresses are now personal information which can not be published without prior consent...".
- Captain Reed Fleming was incorrectly referred to in two sections of the minutes, "Guests" (page 2) and "Church Army" (page 15) as "Ray Fleming".

The following corrections were made to the Minutes of the House of Bishops meeting in April 2002.
1.) "Guests" (p. 2) and "Anglican Council of Indigenous People" (p. 12-14):
The name 'Ms. Mildred Popular' was amended to 'Ms. Mildred Poplar'.
2.) "The House of Bishops' Nomination Committee", (p. 17, 2nd para.):
The sentence "Bishop Matthews was 'elected the episcopal representative to the House of Bishops' Standing Committee on Religious Orders' was amended to 'Bishop Matthews was elected to the House of Bishops' Standing Committee on Religious Orders'.
3.) "Minutes" (p. 21):
The name 'Francoise Lapierre' was amended to 'Francois Lapierre'.
4.) "General Synod Investment Policy', (p. 21, last sentence):
The sentence, 'He said that the issue was property, but governance'. was amended to 'He said that the issue was not property, but governance'.
Bishop Williams asked it is was convention to include everyone listed in attendance at the general meeting, in the in camera minutes also. The response given to him, was that although they were separate sessions, they took place during the same meeting.
