"In May 2007, in Singapore, TEAC (the Working Party on Theological Education established by the Anglican Primates) held a meeting which focused in particular on the Anglican Way in theological education. As a result of this meeting the statement 'The Anglican Way: Signposts on a Common Journey' was agreed and published. The statement is being used at the 2008 Lambeth Conference as a resource for the discussion of Anglican identity. The statement can be found (in several languages) on the theological education section of the Anglican Communion website at www.anglicancommunion.org/ministry/theological/signposts
It was also agreed that TEAC would seek to produce a series of short booklets which would offer accessible theological educational resources to enable members of the Anglican Communion -- laity and clergy -- to explore the statement or particular aspects of it in more detail. The series will be known as the 'Signposts series'. Our aim is to enable as wide a variety as possible of Anglican Christians to follow the 'Signposts' and discover more for themselves about our Anglican Way of faith. The intention is to publish these booklets electronically, in CD and web formats -- though if possible a number of paper copies will also be available. This is the first in that series of booklets. It offers a general introduction to the statement, and includes within it the complete text of the statement set out in five sections (printed in boxes in the text)." -- [Preface].

"The Mission and Evangelism Advisory Team (MEAT) was constituted to give support to the work of the Anglican Communion's Mission and Evangelism Office as the latter engaged in the preparations for the [2008] Lambeth Conference. One of the contributions to this year's Lambeth Conference from the Mission and Evangelism Office is a profile of the mission and evangelism issues around the Communion. Alongside this MEAT commissioned Bishop Michael Doe to write about how Anglicans understand Mission and Evangelism. The present booklet ... is therefore linked to MEAT's desire to explore the various understandings of mission and evangelism in the Anglican Communion, that motivate Anglicans to be a mission focussed Communion. If you want to find out more about the work of the Mission and Evangelism Office contact: Revd John K. Kafwanka: Research/Project Office, Stuart Buchanan: Research and Administrative Assistant". -- [Intro.], p. 1.
"Mission is of its very essence ecumenical in both method and goals, so it is not easy, and nor may it be desirable, to isolate let alone elevate very specific Anglican elements. However, from within our history and out of what is emerging from that today, the Anglican tradition does have some distinctive emphases and in this paper I have drawn out twelve". -- p. 1.

A description of the Qatar Anglican Centre which is being planned. The Centre "a complex which will contain space for conferences, a library, a choir, a community cafe, thrift shop and provision for supporting families and youth, as well as a Church to be dedicated to the Epiphany -- is appropriately described as `An Oasis of Christian Hospitality'. It seeks to respond to the hospitality shown to the Christian community by the Emir of Qatar who has given the land for the complex, by becoming in turn a place where Anglicans can make a major contribution which will strengthen the spiritual and social life of Christians in Qatar". The Church of the Epiphany will include a wonderful mosaic showing "God's light coming to all nations" behind the sanctuary. Archdeacon Ian Young is the Anglican presence in Qatar. "David Wright, the former British Ambassador in Qatar and Chair of the Appeal Council spoke about the needs of the project. It will cost 4,000,000 [pounds sterling] in total of which 1,000,000 [pounds sterling] has already been raised".
The author, currently Anglican Communion Director of Theological Studies, describes two resources which focus on the depiction of Christ in world art and the inculturation of Christianity. Some years ago the USPG (United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel), in cooperation with the Methodist Church in Britain, produced "an innovative pack of pictures and written materials called 'The Christ We Share' -- with contextual images of Christ from around the world. Many of the images were striking, some were controversial, all were thought-provoking." A new resource has now been produced. "Born Among Us" is "explicitly intended for 'all age' worship contexts, and for children in both church and school settings. It contains good quality visual images, information about the pictures and about the celebration and understanding of the birth of Christ in different countries of the world, suggestions for linked creative activities, songs and carols from a variety of countries, and the outline of a specially written nativity play which would help churches and schools pull together the ideas linked with the different and rich contents that the pack explored". Ms. Amos comments particularly on the section of "Born Among Us" that describes China with information about Chinese Anglican bishop Shen Zi Gao, and Chinese Christian artists Xu San Chun and He Qi. Includes a translated Chinese Christian prayer.
Assisted by grants from the Compass Rose Society the Theological Education Working Party (TEAC) has begun "to supply theological colleges in the two-thirds world with key books in the field of Anglican Studies. The purpose of these book grants is to enable students training for Anglican ministry in theological colleges with limited library resources to have greater access to books which will provide an overview of Anglican history, liturgy and spirituality. So far the grants have enabled books to be sent to six theological colleges in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Pakistan, Mauritius, Kenya and Malaysia, and we in process of sending out a dozen further sets even as I write." "The books chosen are based as far as possible on the booklist constructed by the Anglican Way group of TEAC (which can be accessed on part of TEAC's website www.anglicancommunion.org/teac), as well as a few key books which have been published during the last year." "We are also determined to find ways to assist Anglicans in Spanish-speaking, French-speaking and Portuguese-speaking regions to obtain resources on Anglican history, spirituality and doctrine. We feel that an important contribution TEAC can make in this area is to sponsor the translation into these languages of a key text for Anglican Studies, and we have chosen as this 'key text' 'Something in Common' by Adrian Chatfield. ... it is being brought out in a revised and up-to-date new English edition by the end of 2006. ... we are also seeking to make a version available in Swahili".

A book of essays and poems in honour of Bishop Kenneth Cragg's 90th birthday. "The bulk of the essays, of course, deal with Islam .... Among the essays I found the most illuminating to be Christopher Lamb's on Kenneth's understanding of the Christian mission to Islam; Jan Slomp's on Mawdudi's 20th-century revision of the concept of jihad; and those by Nielsen and Chapman on Christian-Muslim relations. Anyone involved in daily work with the Muslim community will be well advised to consult these essays".
