Resolved, That the General Synod of the Church of England in Canada, assembled in Joint Session, desires to place on record its profound thanks to the three Field Commissioners sent out by the Anglican National Commission; the Right Rev. Derwyn T. Owen, Bishop of Niagara; Rev. Canon S. Gould, General Secretary of the M.S.C.C.; and Dr. Francis H. Gisborne, Chancellor of the Diocese of Ottawa.
During the past three years, the Field Commissioners have visited every Diocese in Canada for the purpose of making a complete survey of all the problems confronting the Canadian Church.
The survey has been carried through to completion with great faithfulness and the report, and accompanying recommendations, laid before this Synod more than justify the great undertaking.
The sincere thanks of the Synod and of the members of our Church throughout the Dominion are due to these three Commissioners for their untiring energy and industry, the fruitfulness of their personal contact with provincial, diocesan and local problems, the intimacy of the knowledge acquired; the lucidity of their presentation of these problems, the comprehensiveness of their report and, above all, their splendid spiritual contribution to the up-lifting and up-building of the Church.
That this General Synod received with gratitude the declaration of the House of Bishops affirming determination to lead the Church in advancing into the Seventies and pledges the support of the Church to the Bishops in their work towards that goal. CARRIED
